Watch the Revolutionary Construction

What does it mean?

  • Bristle retention re-engineered

  • Fully molded

  • Reduced risk of bristle loss

What are the benefits?

  • Minimized risk of foreign bodies from the cleaning tools (no metal or resin, reduced risk of bristle loss)

  • Fewer product rejections, product recalls, and waste

  • Fewer associated costs

  • Brand/business protection

  • Greater peace of mind

The UST Difference Explained

Plastics in foodstuffs are some of the most commonly reported foreign bodies. This includes plastic bristles from cleaning brushware.

Investigations conducted by Vikan show that bristle retention in traditional drilled and stapled and resin-set drilled and stapled brushware can be highly variable. UST technology solves this problem.

Drilled and stapled

A bristle bundle is secured into a drilled hole with a metal staple.

Bristle fixation depends on:

  • its position within the bristle bundle

  • whether other bristles have already been dislodged

  • the thickness of the bristle

If one bristle dislodges, the whole bundle becomes looser and subsequent bristles require less force to be pulled out.

Resin-set drilled & stapled

Resin-set drilled and stapled brushware also utilizes drilled and stapled technology, but includes a second step where epoxy resin is poured around bristle bundles to further secure the bristles.

Bristle fixation depends on:

  • its position within the bristle bundle – the resin helps secure the outer bristles

  • whether other bristles have already been dislodged

  • the thickness of the bristles

The resin does not secure all of the bristles equally and those in the center of the bristle bundle may not be secured by resin at all. Consequently, bristle retention is variable and, if a bristle from the center of the bundle is dislodged, others in the bundle can become looser and easier to dislodge.

*Some products containing resin are not fully compliant with EU regulations.

Ultra Safe Technology

Each bristle is individually molded into the brush head.

Bristle fixation is consistent regardless of:

  • position of the bristle in the bundle

  • whether other bristles have been dislodged

Further ways by which UST technology reduces the risk of foreign body contamination:

  • no risk of metal (staple) fragments in the food product

  • no risk of resin in the food product

  • the hygienic design of the UST brushes means that there is minimal risk of other foreign bodies being harbored and transferred
