Samantha Lapham

Multimedia Coordinator

Samantha Lapham has been with Vikan for 15 months. Coming from a background in graphic design, she joined the company as Multimedia Coordinator, working closely with the marketing team, colleagues around the globe, and external stakeholders. In her role, she creates graphics for a variety of marketing materials.

Before joining Vikan, Samantha worked as a freelance graphic designer alongside her role as a mum to two children. Earlier in her career, she worked for graphic design studios with global clients in the entertainment industry, as well as smaller local businesses during her time as a freelancer.

What attracted Samantha to Vikan was the role itself. While she had the skill set to take it on, the position also offered challenges and scope for development, which is something she was drawn to.

As one of the UK-based employees who took part in a two-week onboarding programme in Skive, Samantha describes being impressed from the outset by Vikan’s friendly yet professional nature. Though she was nervous at first, she quickly felt comfortable at Vikan HQ and took away valuable insights into the company’s people, culture, and business – insights she still looks back on today, and which help whenever she returns to Skive.

My favorite part of the onboarding was experiencing every aspect of the business and meeting people, feeling included from the very beginning. I really enjoyed being able to make a brush and drive the forklift in the warehouse, which gave me an understanding of other aspects of the business that aren’t marketing,” Samantha says.

For Samantha, Vikan’s most important values as a new hire are purpose, diligence, professionalism, and putting customers first.

“Large enough to make a difference, small enough to care” is how Samantha would describe Vikan to someone unfamiliar with the company – a global business with a team-oriented workplace that provides superior quality cleaning tools and service.

Working in an international team with colleagues in Denmark and the US while based in the UK, Samantha has had no issues with the setup. Everyone is accessible and approachable, she says, and the Danish speak amazing English, which helps.

The pioneering spirit and can-do attitude at Vikan are what makes Samantha most proud to work at the company. “It is a great company I am proud to be part of,” she says.

Looking ahead, Samantha believes maintaining open dialogue and being inclusive will remain important for Vikan in the years to come. Whenever she has a query, she says it has been addressed – and sometimes, even before she has asked the question, the answer is already there.

Samantha has also been continuously impressed by how properly things are done at Vikan, and when they are not, by the steps taken to make improvements.

I was instantly made to feel at home. People are genuinely happy in their role, and the company is consistently ready to support me as an employee to help me do the best job,” Samantha says.

Do you have a favorite memory or funny story you would like to share?

We had a team building event in which we did paintball, archery, and a pillow fight, which was fun and a great way to get to know my team. The Danish dancing at the Christmas party was also great fun.
